grandma.

To the woman responsible for my entire family, my big feet and my quest for a good deal-

Grandma, I miss you, love you and know you are watching over us.

my husband rocks.

I was working on our Italy photo book, courtesy of Blurb.  And, while moving around pictures I got distracted watching YouTube.  I know, it happens.  Oddly enough though, I wasn't watching cat videos.

Anyway, I went to Ryan's channel- I do that from time to time- and come to find he has a video with 17,000+ views.  I couldn't believe it, considering my blog, at best, gets like five.

So Bravo to my husband, and let me know if you have any requests!

we're a whole wheat family.

I was at Trader Joe's the other night picking up food to make our TJ Burritos.  I was in the bread aisle grabbing the tortilla's when I saw a Dad and his two sons.  He asked his kids to pick out buns.  They ran to the shelf, grabbed some buns and proudly took them back to their dad.

He looked at the food and said "Boys, we are a whole wheat family-mom won't like this".  It was so funny because A) they looked slightly disappointed that they got caught.  B) I felt the same way as a kid. C) My poor children and Ryan will most likely be doing the same thing one day.

this is just moving.

We haven't edited all of our wedding footage yet.  One day maybe.  But- this is some footage of the location.

Like most parts of our wedding, we found Matt's comments hysterical.

Certainly wishing I was here now.  *sigh*

obsessed.

with this song:

it was meant for me.

I hadn't purchased a case for my iPhone as of last week.  I had been using my free bumper- which worked ok, but didn't fit my off-brand chargers that I have.

Last week I bought a slim black case at Nordstrom- but decided while it was cute, it didn't really protect the front of the phone- aka the most important part.  I took off the case in the car so I could return it.  As I was getting out to go to the ATM my iPhone fell on the pavement.  I kid you not.  I haven't been anywhere near close to dropping this sucker for the past few months that I've had it.  But, go figure the few minutes its not in a case it falls on the pavement.  Luckily it landed on its back.  But damn.  Serious disappointment there.

After I returned my case to Nordstrom, I stopped in the Kate Spade store- and stumbled upon the Christina iPhone 4 case:

It's black and white and green.  Perfect.

And, it protects the front better than my bumper, and will work with the chargers.  Thank you Kate Spade!

Home Tour | Master Bedroom

Alright, it is time to take a peek into our room.  This room is huge, has tall ceilings and we love it.  We left it pretty simple because we didn't want our room full of clutter.  We wanted this room to feel like zen- which is why it is not over-the-top. So here it is:

We have a queen bed- and probably will for awhile.  We like the size, and like that it doesn't take up as much space in the room.  The couch I bought for $50 from goodwill before I moved to Chico.  It is in great shape.  And, it didn't fit in our living room since it was so small- so this window nook was the perfect place.

Our dresser was purchased when we moved here, and it is from Ikea- and quite the pain to put together I might add.

Our bedding is from Ikea as well.  I purchased the Euro sham's from Pottery Barn with giftcards.  I got the bed skirt from Walmart.

I had one of the nightstands in my apartment in Chico.  It's from Ikea.  I don't love these, but we bought another one when we moved here since we needed a nightstand on the other side.

The headboard, which I don't love either- but does the trick for now, was rescued from the trash.  And it is a footboard.  I bought two poles at home depot to raise it up, and attached it to the bedframe with zip ties.

Our wedding photo that resides on my nightstand.  And the book is our daily journal.

This is the top of our dresser.  The frames are all from Ikea.  The big one on the right is an engagement photo.  The two photos on the left are from our trip to Italy.

I bought the green vases at Crate and Barrel with wedding money.

This green dresser doll is probably one of my favorite things I have.  It was my grandma's.  It was a gift to her from my grandpa.  I used to go to their house when I was younger and admire it.  My grandma gave it to me as a wedding gift- and I love having it in my room now.  Plus it is green- so it was meant for me : )

Ryan took this photo in Chico.  I turned it B& W and viola- art!

A close-up of the saved-from-the-dump headboard.

So there you have it, our room.  Nothing too special- but it works for now.  One day we'll buy a legit bed/headboard.  But- for now, this does the trick.

House Hunting=Draining

I've been MIA because I've been spending every waking minute thinking about houses.  Yep, that's right, we've started to look into buying a place of our own.  I thought this was going to be so exciting, and right up my alley- but it turns out me and house hunting in our area = not so good.

For starters, everything is expensive.  And I swear every time we look into something, we find another cost is added.

Secondly, it's expensive.  So, no single-family home for these three.  Which is fine, condo life will be perfect for us. But it is no House Hunters in Texas where $150K gets you a brand spanking new 4,000 sq. ft. 3 car garage house.

It takes forever.  And, I'm a get 'er done kind of gal.

Lastly, the thought of a 30 year loan is insane.  INSANE!

We've seen a few places, and really like one, but with HOA fees, and those pesky little HUGE taxes it tacks on quite a bit.

So in the mean time, send us good house hunting energy that someone puts our dream home up on the MLS who is willing to negotiate.  Oh, and cover our closing costs.

our slideshow.

My favorite part of weddings are the slideshows.  I was backing up my computer and stumbled upon ours.

So to share:

cat videos.

I love a good cat video.  God only knows how many hours I've wasted on youtube watching cats jump out of boxes, scurrying around and acting like ninjas.  It's pathetic.  I know.

But, at least I share this passion with my husband.  Our dream would be to have a famous cat video like Maru.  Yes, we are on a first name basis with this cat:

So last night I decided I would let the camera roll and see what we'd get with our oh-so-adorable daughter.

The result- an interesting perspective of Ryan, the Nazi of cat videos.

old married couple.

I called my parents tonight and they were catching up on Grey's Anatomy while eating a Costco take & bake pizza.

We just got back from Costco with our $6.99 take & bake pizza and plan to clear out our DVR.

Clearly- the secret to happiness is a DVR and Costco.

man oh man.

This is my husband:

And he is going to Mexico for work for THREE WHOLE WEEKS.  During my absolute favorite time of year, December 1 right up till Christmas.

All I can say is boo.

Riley isn't too excited either.

Home Tour | Living Room

I love our apartment, and am running out of things to write about- so here begins the first in a series of a tour of our house.  And, it is fitting since most of my family hasn't seen our place put together.

We thought we were the luckiest people on earth when we found our place.  It is quiet, has tall ceilings and was recently renovated.  Basically we know that this will be the nicest place we live in for awhile given the real estate around here.  So we are enjoying ourselves and our fancy-free life!

Here is the layout of our place (but flip flopped- I didn't feel like opening photoshop, so bear with me):

b_1029

Today we will be touring the Living Room.  AKA where I spend most of my time.  My apologies for the dark photos- I wasn't in the mood to adjust the settings for a few of these shots.  So here it is, in all its glory.

Close up of our pillows.  Right now we are in "fall" mode.  I sewed the b&w stripped pillows.  The yellow ones were a fantastic find from Dwell Studio's line at Target.  Come winter I will change the yellow pillow, then bring it back for spring.

Our end tables were finds from Goodwill when I moved into my apartment in Chico.  They were $10 for the pair.  They are a bit on the short end, so I put a vintage suitcase on top which makes it taller, and it stores some decorating items.  My sis got Ryan that elephant, the sand in the square vase is from the spot we got engaged at in Monterey, the orange candle is from Roth and Norma's wedding and the frame is clearance from Pottery Barn.

The ladder shelf on the right is from Target.  I got it on super-duper clearance, and blogged about it back in 2009.  The window nook is where Riley hangs.  She loves her bed and personal window.

Love, love, love this garden stool.  I bought it for my 25th birthday (yep I get myself gifts from time to time).  It was only $20 from Big Lots.  These stools usually go for $70-$100-$200!

These candles were purchased and used at our wedding.  They now live on our coffee table.

Our coffee table has a shelf, and on one side it has coffee table books.  The bottom book is our wedding album, then we have a book on Michelangelo, our wedding vows, and the book every home decor aficionado needs: Domino. The white milk glass dish was a few bucks from a thrift store.

Other side of the coffee table shelf.  Bowl of balls.  And, basket that is home to our remotes, tissues and place mats for eating.

This chair was only $40 from Pier 1.  It retailed for over $100, but I bought the floor model and bargained down the price.  It was as-is, put together, and couldn't be put on hold.  I felt like hot stuff leaving Pier 1 with my deal of the century.  Joke was on me when it couldn't fit into my Civic.  I had to call Ryan to come pick me up in his parents Pilot.  Meanwhile I sat in the parking lot, in my chair.  Oh well- I saved $60!

And lastly, I'll leave you with photos of my bike.  I bought this on Craigslist.  I love it because it is old and green .  Since you can see it from the slider, I decided to dress it up for fall.

So there you have it, our Living Room.  Just imagine me on the couch, with Riley on my lap.

Family, no?

Way to go Giants.

Just saying.
